Industrial Design & Manufacturing (IDM) began designing, manufacturing, and assembling Connector Holders for circuit checking Automotive and Appliance Wiring Harnesses in February 1999.  From the start, customers were primarily interested in a good reliable Connector Holder for checking wiring harness continuity.  At the time, customers were happy to receive a machined connector holder with pogo style pins properly set.  The machined Delrin plastic cavity would work well, as long as the connector being circuit checked moved in and out of the connector holder cavity with relative ease.  Causing no deformation to the wiring harness terminals during the circuit checking process was one of the primary concerns.  In some circumstances, even connector holders inexpensively poured from molds were a good bargain, though cavity tolerances were quite loose.

Subsequently as innovations were made to wiring harness connectors; it became important for the Connector Holder to do much more than check the Wiring Harness continuity.  Today the seemingly simple Wiring Harness Connector can consist of many components.  Should one of those components be missing from the connector, it is a major Quality Problem for the Wiring Harness and for the Wiring Harness Manufacturer.  Manufacturers who install Wiring Harnesses into their equipment such as: automobiles, farm equipment, aircraft, or appliances have zero tolerance for a defective Wiring Harness.  Wiring Harness Manufacturers who fail to solve their Quality Problems will lose their Customers.

The result is Wiring Harness Manufacturers demand more from their Connector Holder Suppliers.  And this is where IDM rose to the challenge.  As you will notice from visiting our Web Site, IDM has found and will continue to find solutions to Fool Proof (Poka Yoke) unique situations in the assembly process for Wiring Harnesses.  Whether checking and closing secondary connector locks, checking for the presence of seals (or other connector components) improperly seated terminals (Terminal Back Out) or dealing with Fool Proofing the assembly operation itself (in the case of assembly procedures being overlooked) IDM will find the solution.

President and CEO, James A. Heffner, has greater than 16 years experience in Wiring Harness Operations.  His understanding of the needs and requirements of the Wiring Harness Industry adds a greater commitment to IDM's role in serving the customer.

IDM excels in its ability to combine Leading Edge Designs and Top Notch CNC Programming with Exceptional Quality Machining and Connector Holder Assembly providing our customers with Products Not Equaled by any other Supplier.
